Faux News

According to this BBC story, over 1,000,000 copies of a spoof edition of the New York Times were distributed in New York and Los Angeles. The fake paper, dated July 4, 2009, had the motto "all the news we hope to print." In addition to the Iraq War story, another story trumpeted the arrival of free health care for all Americans. A group called The Yes Men claimed responsibility.

  1. You know, I look pretty convincing in a tux. Once I retire and the kids are safely out on their own in college, I just might join the Yes Men. Man, their sight is hilarious!

But I kind of doubt that they printed/distributed a million copies of the NY times satire. That would take more resources then they appear to have available.
